Did it take you time to get used to a performance clutch?

I have an EVO8(04) with an ACT clutch on it that has about 300 miles. When I first got it the friction point was a real b*tch. It was very chattery and grabby. Now, some 300 miles later, it is not quite as bad. But, in 1st or reverse it is still kind of a pain. When you shift these things, is it best to just let it grab or are we supposed to give it a little extra throttle? For some reason I have developed a habit of feathering the gas, to prevent what I feel would be a stall in a normal clutch. I have noticed that if I just let up on the clutch it grabs hard and seems like it'l just go without fail. How do the majority of people in here engage the clutch? I guess you have to pay to play, since the guy I bought this from said it was rated up to 700 hp. BTW FWIW, I used to have an 08 m3 and that clutch shifted like silk.
This car is still more fun though.

yea i run the same clutch and it took about 1000 miles to get used to and then ur left calf muscle gets stronger and its easier to drive lol. once you get used to it, its great to have such good feel instead of a clutch thats so light you can't even tell ur pushing it.
to leave from a stop i rev it up to about 1500 ish and slowly let it out. if you don't give it any gas or let it out to fast it will grab hard and bog right down. its tricky at first.
i have a few friends with evo's that still have stock clutches and they have the hardest time driving my car.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, and I had a student (I am a teacher) come up to me and say hey...could you teach me stick? I told him there is no way he would be able to learn with my clutch.
Yeah, the funny thing is I missed my 05 Sti. My wife has been wanting a mini van so I bought her an 06 Odyssey for only 16k.(new condition) I got a pretty souped up evo and save ~20k. I feel like I did the right thing. Now when I want to just cruise I drive the 02 accord (70k miles) and when I want to have fun I drive my evo. (My 08 m3 did not have the M Dynamic Mode and was kind of a pain in the a$$ to drive it spirited.)
