Just got an Evo 8

Hello everyone, i just purchased a 2004 Evolution 8 with 68k miles for $14,000..with most miles being highway miles(so he said). I thought it was a good deal. It has some bolt on mods: intake,TBE,HKS bov,AEM tru boost gauge, and AEM A/F gauge. Before i go with further modding, i would like to take care of the needed maintance first and i have a couple of questions. What all needs to be checked/replaced at 60k? I know the timing belt for sure but what else? What do i need to lookout for? I had a 350WHP eclipse gs-t but i sold it to get me an evo and got this one..so i am not new to modding. The DSM was a pain in the *** and always broke..so i hope the evo is a bit more reliable. Anyway i will post pics soon !!

Congrats. Get rid of the HKS SSQV and replace it with an evo 9 diverter valve.

Is the car tuned, if not that should be taken care of as well.

Just a starting point.

i dont understand why so many people do these vta type bov on their cars when there is literally a multitude of info on every single evo forum advocating people to not do that? I mean is the sound really worth all that headache?

As stated already take that bov off!

Other than that congrats and have fun modding!

Clutch was replaced late last year..he had a receipt for that. and yes everything works properly..just few dings in the body and a cracked windshield but nothing too bad.

Also i want to change the tranny fluid and transfer case fluid..whats some good stuff out there?

Welcome! For starters find a shop you can trust and knows a bit about EVOs. Check with the prior owner and see what maintenance has been performed and cross reference that with the recommended service from the owner's manual. Also recommend running Dia Queen OEM fluid in both the transfer case and rear differential. Of course you can't go wrong with good old Mobil1 for the motor. Nice price BTW, have fun with her.
