what many might not know about kbb

"The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. "

read it carefully. i see alot of people asking 26k for there evo, but im not trying to put you down, but its now worth exactly what it says in suggested retail. i bought my first evo for $21,700 at a dealer and it was an 06 w 20k miles. i dont want to be a hypocryte, cause if i still had my evo and was selling it, i would want the most for it, but we got to be reasonable. im just putting this out there so people tak that into consideration when asking a price. im lookin for an evo now, but 25k before taxes is kinda pricey, and i lost alot of $ from my last evo since i thought insurance would give me 27k for it since that was the kbb.

yea insurance companies in california are not able to give you KBB value. im arguing with my insurance company over this. they go by a company called autotek. they research within 25mile radius of where you live and compare your car to how it is compared to selling cars. i got screwed over by this really bad! they compared cars to cars that were for sale on craigslist. i recently got hit on my MR2 Turbo and got crap for it! and the worst part it wasnt my fault. but its ok i am in the process of gettin a EVO.

If you're an individual selling your car you should be using the "private party" option. "Suggested retail" is for dealer prices. Anyone with minor reading comprehension skills should be able to tell the difference.
