IX worth it over 8 if one planning on upgrading turbo?

I read the 8 vs 9 thread and did a search. I'm wondering if I plan to upgrade the turbo and block down the road is the 9 worth it? I know it has mivec and some extra passages in the block. I'm not sure if the ACS is worth it. My goals are probably mostly some drag racing and autox. 500whp / 10sec slip. I could upgrade the turbo and block quicker if I bought the 8. The 9 seems only better if I plan on staying stock turbo/block and doing minor mods. Let me know your input.

Well the IX head is better than the VII head and allows you to run more boost because of improved coolant passages in the head and you get better spool thanks to Mivec. Can't say which one is better for you though.

If you're going to be doing a large build (head, cams, large turbo, etc.) then the IX probably isn't worth it for you. The IX has the advantage in stock or simple bolt ons.

Hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

for me it was a choice of parts availble. there are way more parts people are selling and are making or rather have made for the 8 vs 9. To me a evo 9 is just a overpriced evo and your paying for the newness because you want low mileage. low miles is not worth the extra money and you have to buy alot of parts new and improved. Remember there are and i have seen them low low low mileage evo 8s there was one on ebay with 14k miles. because your going to build the head/motor anyways no miles per say so i dont think that is a issue. just please keep in mind its not a race to build your evo up the fastest take your time and do your research on parts and dont always go along with the fanboys and most of all have fun building good luck on your choice.
