About my 8k redline HELP!

I just bought and EVO 8 year 2003 yesterday... and sold my STi last week and jumped in a EVO...

So far i am really happy with the car but the owner before me got a pro-tune on it and im kind of scared it is getting pushed to hard...

My power mods on the car are;

BR cat-back
intake
Forge rec BOV

im running 22.5 PSI "It spikes at that then drop to like 19-20 PSI at redline"...making 301whp-309tq
is that safe for what i have?

The tuner also made the Redline at 8k!!! idk if that is safe with my set up..
Can someone tell me if it is?

I know in my STi if i did that it would of blown up probably..

8k is fine if you ask me...if it has high mileage I'd maybe take the oil pan off and tighten up things with ARP rod bolts. I think alot of Evo tuners up the redline to quite a bit higher than 8k with no problems. The 4G63 is NOT a wimpy little aluminum EJ motor, it can actually rev! Haha. Anyways, welcome to the Evo world, make sure you do a lot of searching and reading on these forums, you will learn a lot. Good luck!

with the stock turbo there's no point in running it higher than the 7k redline. The factory cut off was 7800 rpms. The higher the rpms the more chance of something going wrong with the stock parts. FYI, you can hold 22-26psi to redline depending mods and tune. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...g-dummies.html

I have done nothing to my engine and am running 24 pounds of boost and have had no problems, the only thing that sounds like your missing is a walbro 255 that will insure safety for higher boost levels than stock, now about your red line it should be alright to hit 8k but just dont do it all the time!!

The boost and redline should be fine. The 4G63 is a very well researched and built motor. Old tecnology taken right to the limit. You will enjoy the experience of the bulletproof stock motor.

Why'd you drop the STI?

Welcome to the EVO world, which I will miss (sorry, sold my evo a week or two ago).

no point? Have you ever been to the 1/4 mile... Theres a big point in not having to hit 5th gear
