Question 2006 evo mr salvage

Hey guys im in the market for an evo preferably a IX MR. I found a 2006 MR apex silver for $22,500 has 17,000 miles really clean but has a salvage title. I saw the car when it first was crashed and all it was is just the passanger rear quarter panel and it was all proffesionaly repaired. What do you guys think of the price?

you will have to pay cash, because a bank wont loan money on a salvaged title. I think I would pass on this one. it would be hard to sell later.

22,500 has 17,000 miles

wow thats a bit steep to pay for a salvage car not to mention as stated above will be hard to resell if you wanted to. Forget trading it in. if you plan to keep it for a long time then ok but still i would never pay 22k for a salvage title and you would have to have all the money up front as stated above again. if you have 22k then you could buy a clean titled evo and in most cases even buy a modded one if you dont feel like doing the work yourself. forget the whole it has low miles talk as well. for that much money could could buy a fully built head and block so that elimates that. your better off buying a high mileage evo for like 13k-14k that would leave you with roughly 8k left over then buy a fully built head and block for around 4500-5000. leaves you with roughly 3000 might as well upgrade the turbo to something nice let say in this case to make terms easy a fp red. leaves you with 1000 now for around 360 trading your orginal parts in of course ppi will port your intake and exhaust manny and red hotside and throttle body leaves you with 640 now save up another 1000 or so and get a new clutch to handle the new power and a tune. WOW look at that a fully built evo for that 22k with a clean title and low mileage only the drivetain will have miles on it but you can replace that later if your concerned but thats what i would do . Remember these prices im throwing out are for new parts there are some REALLY great deals on heads built engines turbo ported parts clutches for sale etc in the for sale threads like a gold mine in there and you could save even more money. Good luck with your choice

Sounds unusual to me that a car with such mild damage would get a salvage title. Typically "salvage" applies to a car that's currently wrecked, and once it's repaired it should have a reconstructed title. From what I understand, if you try to register it in another state, you have to have it certified to get a reconstructed title issued for that state. That's partially why they can be such a pain to sell. I'd steer clear unless you can grab it for like $12k. You can pick up a nice VIII for around $15-17k now, and a clean IX for like $20-22k.

Well I was thinking of maybe getting the dealer down to 19K or something, and the other thing is im in MA and there really isn't any decent evo's around here and if there is they are like 2003 for 20 grand and the 2006 MR's are anywhere from 25k-and up i mean i plan on keeping the car for a long time but do you guys think if i got it down to like 19 or around there it would be a alright deal? Thanks for any input

I would keep looking. Don't know about spending $22.5k on a salvaged car.

Not even 19k is low enough for a salvage title also think about warranty if the dealer can give you a decent warranty which i doubt. also think about repairs, what if you buy the car and within a month or two your tranny fails, or your turbo blows, or something, then you will have to pay for it all yourself since you have no warranty on a salvage title

Also consider the "Salvage" may void any warranty left thru Mitsubishi. I would avoid it at that price! In my opinion, a salvage title vehicle that is rebuilt (not just a theft recovery with no damage) is worth about 65% of a good, clean titled car. Be patient....you'll find one.

Keep looking, there are plenty of evo's for sale all over. You might have to take a little trip to get one, well worth it.

That's way way too much for a salvaged title. You lose almost 10K off the bat since no one is going to want to buy it for a decent price when you sell it. I got my 06 SE for 24.4K /w 27K miles last year. Keep looking. I thought I got a good price but depending on your area you may get a really good deal.

Sounds like you need to look closer at what is going on with the title. No way should anyone in their right mind pay that much for a car with a salvaged title. Tell them you'll give them 10k for it..
