A question about the O2 sensor...??
A question about the O2 sensor...??
Im picking up an evo tommorow and the dealer told me the O2 sensor needs to be replaced...now is the engine check light going to come on because of its absence?
If you're buying it from the dealership (or anyone for that matter), tell them to fix it first or subtract the cost from the purchase price. A bad sensor will yield a CEL. My recommended fix would be a universal 4-wire Bosch sensor from the auto parts store for around $50 then just wire it into the stock sensor's harness.

I have the universal Bosch and have had no issues. I would definitely make them fix it. I am always suspicious of dealers selling cars saying "it just needs X"or "just replace Y and it will be fine" I dont buy it. It is a lot easier to sell a car without a CEL. If it was something that simple, one would think they would just replace it first, then offer a car with zero issues. I would ask that it be fixed before you take the car. Who knows what the real issue may be.

Good luck and Hope ya got a deep pocket book. These cars tend to be worse than crack. Once you do one mod....you will find anyway to get the next one.

Well i just got finished paying off a 02' 325i...you wouldnt imagine countless parts ive had to buy to keep that thing running...but yeah thx for the heads up....
I would definently tell the dealer to fix it. Seems like they would anyway. I paid way to much for my evo and the car was pretty much mint with only 2,7500 miles on it. The car had a few scratches on the hood and the dealership was hesitant about fixing them. You would think they would have the courtesy to fix it right away. Just ask em!
