Removing your CAT!

Whats Up My Friends,

I am new to owning my EVO 8. Alot of you guys know me from the other site, www.s2ki.com. I want to remove my CAT and go straight pipe, but I know when I did it with my S2000, it was loud as hell. Is this the same with EVO 8's. If it is not, awesome. Also, is there any downside in having it off, backpressure loss, etc..... Or is there big gains?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Hi

As for it getting louder, i'm not sure as i have an after market exhaust. However, it (fumes) sure stinks as hell now.

you dont need to worry about backpressure as the turbo will handle that for ya so from that aspect it is good to go.

Now I know you are in CA billy so you know that is a big no-no removing the cat. hahha.

Good gains in the upper range from what I have heard

i had a test pipe on my little oz and it was load as hell with a magnaflow racing series muffler on it. i got pulled over at 2 in the morning becuase it was too load. the cop asked why it was so load and i told him i had a problem w/ the exhaust i had to fix. he gave me a warning, put he could have taken my car here in california along w/ hella fines. im going to leave the test pipe for the track. good luck to all of you with the test pipes. it sounds awsome and ballsy !!

I added a test pipe and could feel a diference. I now have the works 93 flash, muffler delete pipe, and test pipe. Staight exhaust no muffler or cat = pretty loud, but not as loud as my old na b18c w full catback. I think it sounds good, not ricey at all.
