Weird self locking?

Ok so I know my evo is no lexus or bmw but I noticed when I was washing the car the other day and it was unlocked. When I leaned down to dry the front bumper I accidently hit the lock button on the key in my pocket. I then unlocked the car right after so I could clean the door jams. Then before I even opened the doors the car locked it self. I tested it over over and found that if you step out of your car and leave it unlocked, then hit lock and unlock right after in about a minute the car locks itself. Is this normal??? thanks

ya its a safety thing. If you unlock the doors and don't open the door it automatically locks, as a failsafe in case you forget to lock it. Just locks the doors in case you don't.

It doesn't lock your car for you if you forget. If your car is locked and you hit the unlock button on your remote, you have about a minute to open the door before it will relock itself. This is common on most keyless entry systems.
