evo 8 ?
evo 8 ?
I am sorta new to this site but I know some what about evo's (my brother has a 05) I used to have a wrx but then went back to honda world, now I'm looking to change it up and get a evo. My question is which year is better to get over the 03 04 and 05, I personally think I would choose the 05 becasue of the LSD and such but is there any reason to not choose that year? Or maybe someething else? I was gonna get a STI but I know too many people with subarus (which is why i got rid of mine in the 1st place) and from what I see, evos always seem to come up on top of the STI. Well thanks
i really hate to tell you this but if you just went through few pages of newbie section you would find your answer.
and in 03 04 and 05 there are quite few differences, its all up to personal needs.

Not to be rude, but if you do not have anything productive or polite to say, maybe you should just keep your comments to yourself. There are too many people on this forum that are quick to say " do a search!" . If this is really a site for Evo enthusiasts that want to talk to each other about the car and things pertaining to the car, maybe we should treat it like that. I know that I personally would rather start a brand new post and get replies from other members other than browse through the older posts. Now to the OP, I personally own a 2003 Evo VIII and I love it. The downside to that particular year model is that it has several manufacture defects that you will have to address at some point during the time that you own the car. IE: Transfer Case, Transmission, ECT. I think you are on the right track looking at a 2005 or newer. I am actually looking to sell mine and buy a 05 MR for the ACD and 6-speed. Your choice should also be figured around your price range. Obviously a 04 would be a bit cheaper. Ultimately the choice is yours to make.
well a thing to look out for in the 03 04 evos is they don't have an in cabin air filter so one of the sliders dealing with the hvac unit can get gummed up and eventually your hot cold knob will break like mine. this is about a $800 fix if it wasn't caught and fixed under warranty.
the only difference between the 03 04 & the 05 that i know of is that the 03 04 have an intercooler sprayer where the 05 has the ACD. also the 05 is the first year of the MR which has the 6 speed transmition in it. that transmition can be nice but if your going to build your car i wouln't get it. that's all i know of.
if i was you and money wasn't an issue i would actually get the 06 non MR. if you dont want an evo 9 than get the 05 non MR. If money is an issue than go with a well kept up 03, cheaper way to get an evo and if you are going to build it and don't want to worry about breaking something as much that's less on your mine
sorry if this is messy i had to right it up real fast because i'm almost off work
and wanted to help you real fast.
