Talking Newbie here from Dallas, TX!!

hey guys,
I am lookin to buy an evo 8 or an 9. But cant seem to decide between the two beauties. I know quite a bit between the two models But i cant seem to decide if i want MIVEC or not. If i get the evo 8 it will definitely be the 05 which i think is the best model of the 8. But anywho i would love any opinions and suggestions bout this topic. Thanks guys.

That depends on your intentions, IMO. I would say if you going straight into modding it, go with the 8. They are just a capable of producing big power as the 9s. And they're cheaper, leaving you with more money up front to dole out on your mods. Otherwise, go with the 9. Now with a tune on a stock (or near stock) set up, you probably can get a little more out of a 9 because of the variable valve timing of the MIVEC. Just my opinion though, there might not even be enough difference in price between the 05 - 06 to matter.
Hope this helps.........

Ive had both, and I must say I like the 9 more. Its makes good power with less mods, but if you plan on going big, I would go with the 8 just because there cheaper so it will give you more leway to buy mods.

I kinda regret buying brand new 9. Should've went for used 8 with bigger turbo kit. Damn I love the look of shaved nose evo 8 better than my 9
Think about what you want to do with your car(long term) then make your choice.

Well you picked a good city to be located if you want to buy an Evo. Where exactly are you in Dallas. We just had our monthly meet on the 19th and there were around 15 cars there. Check out the North Texas Evo Club forum here for details about upcoming Dallas events.

OK, now onto your question. I would say go with a IX (I'm biased, though). I think it is a more refined look and it will hold it's value better. And you have a better chance of getting one that hasn't been beaten on (just because it is newer).

Don Herring Jr of Don Herring Mitsubishi would be happy to hook you up with a used Evo. He is at the Irving location.
