the 4b11t is a world motor and it takes well to simple tuning.
if its going to be just a DD then a Evo X is a better choice.
but drive them both, evo ix and evo x and make the choice for your self, as you are the one that will have to live with it.

I'm sure the IX/VIII are great cars and if you can find a used IX for under $20K (that's not abused, has low miles, and you are sure you won't have any problems) then that sounds like a good option. For me, I prefer a new car, with crazy deals & 0% interest financing (can't get that with a used one), has creature comforts (like cruise control) and is also a decent daily driver.

But of course... the choice is yours. :-)

I went with the X. Better as a DD, and they respond amazing to bolt-ons with proper tuning.

One is like sex with a condom, the other is like without. Which EVO is which? Either way, you are having a good time.

Quote: Those Evo IXs are kinda pricey for 3-4 year old cars. I recently got my new X GSR last week, and man, it is a blast. It has a much better and modern interior, the gauges & red LCD display shows off current technology. The ride quality is much better for a daily driver. The styling is just a good combination of aggressiveness and sexyness.

Here's a comparison of the evo-10 vs. evo-9 and 8:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-ix-merge.html

Great deals right now for the Evo X, I got my GSR+SSS package for $27,650 before TTL (MSRP $35,650) with 0% APR, that is if you are just patient and find the right dealer. If you are willing to fly to CA and get your car here, PM me, I'll give you the contact info of the dealer... all their remaining Evos are discounted up to $11K off (if you qualify for ALL possible rebates).
was this @ southcoast mitsu??? Im entertaining the thought of making the switch from my IX to the X. Thats a great fkn deal w/ the SSS package! I hope that I can get in the 27-28 range before TTL...

No, it's with Serramonte Mitsubishi (Bay Area). They still have a few left, GSR/MRs, mostly reds, 2 blues, and 1 silver, all are fully loaded (SSS+Aero/Nav/Tech).

Clearance pricing on leftover Evo Xs:

all at $8K off MSRP with zero APR
or
$10K off MSRP without zero APR

and you can still qualify for $500 loyalty and/or $500 Military rebate. That's a whooping $11K off total if you qualify and don't want to get the zero APR.

Contact Patrick, he was the salesguy I dealt with, decent fella.

tell him Stephen sent you.

+1!

X would def. be a better choice for DD, plus it would be a new car so u wouldnt have to worry about its prior history, and the inevitable abuse every Evo is put through from day 1....
having said that, of course, a IX would be significantly less expensive to purchase. and, i personally prefer the looks and rawer nature of the IX.

in general, this is an age-old Q, one which is brought up weekly on the forums... in the end, u must personally test-drive both, rather than just relying on peoples impressions and opinions

If your looking to Mod then get the 9 if you want to weld the hood shut get the X. My logic is that the 9s engine and trany have been in production since 1989 being improved every year it's almost as bullet proof as a power train gets. The X is a new engine and trany (the RaliArt is a X engine w/ a 9 drive train I believe) not tested to the extremes that the 9 has been. It has the potential to be great but it's too early for me to tell.

Let me get this straight - you are tired of Honda's getting broken into and/or stolen so you are deciding to go to an Evo?

What everyone else has said - test drive them both and figure out what feels best to you. IX's are proven and there is a huge aftermarket, X's seem to respond well to mods already but it is still unproven for longevity.

I know some good honest people here in the NW that are getting ready to sell. Non-abusers, not many upgrades, fair pricing, etc. I'm sure there are others throughout the country but that will eventually dry up for the IXs.

One thing to keep in mind is that some lenders will give you "new car" financing on 06 models. I know that my CU did when I re-financed back to them (didn't like the original lender). It won't be 0%, but it will be pretty damn low still (OAC, of course). Best of luck!

Wow, how did I know this thread was gonna be total flame bait.

Why do 9 guys bash the X, but X guys give 9 guys props? Maturity level???

I thought we all drove Evos here??? Ok back OT.

I like both cars. The 9 has a more edgy feeling to it when you drive it. The interior isn't that great but hey the X interior isn't much better. The X is a little more subdued than the 9. For back road ,though, I'd get the X. It's true the 9 is faster than the X straight line, but as some folks above me said a tune will put you right back in there with the 9.

It's all about what you want to live with ok the day to day. Good Luck!
