MR or GSR.. I'm torn
dude how can you offer an opinion, if you don't own an evo?
I've owned an 05 GSR
I own an 06 IX MR interior is much better than GSR
Paying on 07 Outlander XLS paddle shift Automatic, fun when you want to leave from the light quick.
I own an 08 GSR great handling car alot of fun. Purchased before MR was available.
Driven 08 MR Wow It was fun, I like the fact that it's an auto manual, great for daily driving, and traffic. Sport modes, for when your on back roads, or highway. has blue tooth, and better interior. Only downside is if modded it will not surpass the 450 whp due to tranny. But help is on the way............... Don't worry it's new, the parts will come out!!
I'm willing to trade the EB GSR fully loaded for an MR it must have NAV, PM me.

To The OP, of course, drive both and get what you like! Always test drive Before you buy!! Vehicles are an expensive investment, and your in it constantly. Look at all the aspects, ergonomics, fuel mpg, maintenance, drivability, etc.... Either way your going to love the Evolution's, both are very nice!
In my defense:
Listen here (kid) when you have a job, and work for it, you can do what you want with your money, personally I don't care how you waste yours (on candy). Us adults only care about our own money,….and taxes you’ll learn that when your older lol. In the US we have been honored to have had three Evolution Generations VIII/IX/X. I've been lucky enough to own all three. I don't consider myself to be flaunting, merely experienced, and was trying to make that point. Evo's are fairly inexpensive cars, they are in no way expensive compared to the super cars that it keeps up/contends with, Vettes, porsche, Lambo,GT mustangs, skylines, etc......
I highly disagree with you that experience does not make you more knowledgeable, about a vehicle. That's a retarded statement. I know quite a bit about the Lancer Evolution's, not everything there is something new to learn daily. I can't make this same statement for vehicles, I have not been in direct contact with.
I agree with you that owning an evo does not make you intelligent nor any vehicle for that matter makes any person more intelligent. That's why we have schools, and universities.
As far as an even up trade, I don’t believe, I stated that in my comment at all. I’m willing to pay the difference between the GSR and MR. It must be fully loaded though. There are may be few people that would maybe prefer the GSR, after they purchased the MR, and are in the same predicament. I was only putting it out there, that Id rather have the MR.

I just got rid of my '08 MR. And I have to say it was a great car. My wife is a clutch killa' and she likes fast cars so it really worked for her. I wanted a little more power myself. I did a cobb and an intake and it was a bit better. Then I drove a friends Evo 8 again and I figured out I realy miss the shifting and being connected to the road.
So that being said I have an Evo 8 now. The MR is great but if you are one to get bored and need to upgrade I'd imagine the GSR may be a better choice.

#1 i've worked to pay for every single thing any of my three cars have ever needed....(oooh i've owned three cars so automatically i'm knowledgeable about them....)
#2 EVO's are not inexpensive cars....they are 30-40k new which is out of A TON of people's range, and to insure them costs an ungodly amount...plus they need maintenance on a consistent basis...
two things:

#1: I'm glad you work and pay for everything you own, or what your vehicles need, kudos for you, who doesn't? Building any car you learn alot, and develop a special relationship with it. Three years is a long time and alot of miles on a vehicle. The extent I've been involved with my EVO’s is unfathomable for someone who hasn't done it, don’t go there, you sound like a DA.
#2: Evo's aren't expensive cars, I can name 10 vehicles at any given time that cost more than an EVO, by original price, and maintenance costs. 30-40k is below average pricing for a vehicle that performs as well as the EVO does, read any car review. It's average price for a new vehicle in my state, unless you go cheap, or expensive. For example where I live 450K is average for a house, even with the recession, it hasn't really impacted us. Maybe that's why so many Marylanders own EVO's because in our area 30-40K for a car is fairly normal, it's a great car, performance is unbelievable, we love em and we enjoy to drive and show off our hard work.
Suggestion for you get a prius!
Hey to the OP Im sorry if I am off topic, but you'll be here one day fending off the EVO haters. Remember these posts when you get your EVO, and you'll understand why I feel so passionate about our Cars.
LOL, D420, Blue, thanks for both of your opinions, but chill out now.
Everyone else, thanks to you as well, very much the needed input I was looking for from the Evo owners out there. Yes, I know the SVT and TC-SST are black and white in terms of differences, I'm no newb.
I also know how to drive a stick and love it, ((Anyone else get a 5 spd for their first car and have to learn how to drive it if they wanted it?)) but I bought a CVT to appease the wife in case her jeep ever went down and she needed to drive my car. Trust me, were the Lancer I own a five speed, I probably would have never contemplated getting rid of it.
As it stands now, I've gotta spend three months in a wheelchair and then another year in physical therapy. I'll snag the money from the VA when I'm out of the wheelchair and from that point, about 3 weeks into August, hopefully, you should see a new Evo owner on the forums.
Thanks for the input guys.

On a side note, D420, I'm probably moving back up to St. Mary's county after all of this is said and done. Where the hell are you from boss?

Hey man was born in Baltimore MD, I live in Annapolis for now but looking to move south to GA. I used to work in Lexington park, at NAS PAX river. I'm a CIV contractor, I am in Iraq now but on The way to Afghanistan. I'm also a Disabled ARMY VET, Happy Memorial day!! So what's the story what happened?
And that goes for the rest of our Military members, and Vets!!

Okay, mods, I'm taking my own thread off topic here. Dont haze me.
My mom was stationed at PAX for a couple of years before retiring in 99 and we ended up staying in the area. I used to live down off of Chancellors Run Rd. I myself, joined the Marine Corps, spent two tours in Iraq as a TOW Gunner but about 5 1/2 months into the second tour we ran over 20 pounds of PE4 just north of Fallujah. The driver and I, in the turret, got the worst of it. I'll stay away from what happened to him and just say that I managed to shatter my ankle, scuff up my right shin a little bit and took some debris to the face. Oakley's pretty much saved my left eye. Here, all this time later (that was back in 2007) I'm still missing pieces of bone in my right foot and having trouble walking/running with that.
About to undergo a bone/cartilage transplant from the right knee to the right ankle, spend 3 months in a wheelchair and then I'll qualify for two ADL's and 3 months of wheelchair time per TSGLI rules, which nets me 75k. Buying the wife a 2006 Jeep Commander and trading in my worthless Lancer for an Evo.
Though, who knows, I seriously just got into a fight with her because this is technically, if I get the Evo, my 4th car in as my years. The first two sucked, but it doesn't matter to her.
Bah.. When you get back from afganistan we should hook up and go have a few drinks at the Tiki Bar boss, I've got a few former Marine friends back in SoMD who are always up for a few drinks.
-------------
Ahh, another side note, my rents now live up near Aberdeen and I think I'm gonna stick to the GSR so I can have a clutch again. The woman just doesn't understand why I wan't a stick. I'll teach her someday to learn to love it though.
