downpipe/test pipe install

Im gonna put a 3" downpipe and test pipe on my car on friday. Question is the downpipe doesnt have any o2 bungs on it. Do i need one? I have an 05 evo gsr and looked underneath but couldnt see any o2 sensors on the dp. I see 1 on my catback though. thanks.

ok thanks. Also where is the best spot to jack car up? I see a spot on the front where the tow hook is and thinking maybe the control arms. My jack is kinda tall on the sides and cant reach the frame rails.

thats where i jack mine up, and jack stands either on the pinch welds on the sides or the control arms.

Instead of jacking up the car, go purchase some Rhino Ramps from Checker. Makes the job just as easy, as well as any other under-car project, with less worry of the jack possibly failing, etc. Just being safe

just finished installing the dp and test pipe. It sounds great. I put a 3" dp and couldnt attach the front cross bar so i just took it off. The back one is on though. Is that fine?

Anyone? under the dp are 2 braces. NOt sure what brand dp it is but it came off a 2006. Couldn't attach front one cause the dp was too low and the back one is pushed tight against the dp. Anyonelse have this prob?

most people with a 3" dp have this problem...

go buy some washers and use them as spacers...

+1. The Buschur TBE I purchased came with spacers. Washers and possibly longer bolts will work.

My back brace cleared fine no touching, front fit on but maybe a playing card thickness of clearence. I used some spacers for a little more clearence. I don't know how much difference it makes but I like the front brace being on. Did you wrap your DP and testpipe?

They do make some aftermarket braces for that that have a dip that goes down right where a dp would run, or the spacer idea works just as well if you don't feel like spending the extra money. Either way should work fine though, good luck!

I hammered the **** out of my 2 cross braces to make them flat under where my ETS 3076 kit downpipe goes because it was touching and they fit great now. I used a sledgehammer and a piece of railroad steel as an anvil. Fits great now, no rattles or touching.

It is a smart idea to weld and o2 bung at the 12 oclock position of your downpipe where it connects by the test pipe so you can run a wb02 if you want one for the future. Thats what I had ets do on my kit.
