Is there a down fall in painting you FMIC?

If you want it to retain its efficiency it needs to be annodized.

Agreed, the paint will hold in the heat of the IC.

What they all said, and if you paint it black, it will also absorb even more heat from outside the i/c.

i can't believe i'm saying this but, SEARCH NOOB. this topic has been beaten to DEATH on this forum. there's some really good information in all the existing threads. painting it will obviously diminish it's heat exchanging capabilities, BUT there is a certain type of paint you can use that is safe for your IC. I don't remember what kind, so you'll have to search for that. You can either use that type of paint, or anodize it as others have said. good luck.
