Guage Cluster Lights
Guage Cluster Lights
Quick question, can removing the "condom" on the little light bulbs that go inside the guage cluster cause any damage?
It sounds stupid, but the reason I ask is, I read on this forum that removing the rubber sheath on the light bulb will light up the cluster more... so when changing my guage cluster lights I removed all the rubber sheaths... it, in fact, is brighter
That isn't the concerning part... at the plastic base of a few of the light bulbs there was a little bit of "browning", making me think the light bulb was heating up enough to scorch the plastic base... If this is the case, am I melting the inside of the gauge cluster with these bulbs unsheathed? Anybody had any issues?
Just want to make sure...

ya, keep us posted cause I have noticed my cluster lights dont get very bright, even at max.
-- I personally think unsheathed should be fine, speaking from personal experience that is.

Random update for anyone following along... it's been 6 months give or take... nothing has melted in the gauge cluster yet, so I think we are good... unsheathed seems to be the way to go (for everything in life).
