New guy

Hello friends, right now I got an 06 Lancer ES. I am shooting for an Evo once I graduate in about two years.

But for now, it seems like my little Lancer's automatic transmission might be going out pretty soon. It shifts now a little different, and even slips when shifting sometimes on an occasional 50+ mph uphill climb. Does anybody know where I can get a used transmission with maybe like 20-30k on it for maybe like $500?

Also, do you guys think it would be possible for me to install it? I'm an engineering student, so I'm not too dumb. Just never had the opportunity to do car work.

Dunno much about lancer's but I figure your local junk yard would be the best place to look. Changing out a tranny is hard, but not impossible (I'd say 7 out of 10 on the difficulty scale).
But here's a lesson for you dear student - try finding out why you're having problems, see if there's an alternative fix rather than replacing.
Start with your tranny fluid. Good luck.
SCHOOLS FOR FOOLS!!! jk.

I had tranny fluid replaced. The driving did not improve. Then went to Autozone, bought some crap in a can that supposedly helps for automatic transmissions, dumped it in there, still same.

So now i just drive the car very carefully like a grandmother, and don't accelerate hard or anything like that anymore.

And now Im going on a road trip and kinda afraid to take that thing cos it might give out on me in the middle of a desert somewhere, so I'm gonna rent a car.
