Bigger Turbo-- Is this possible?
Hi guys. When I get an Evo X (eventually :/) I was just considering throwing a bigger turbo in, something like a 30r/fp red/dom. However, it wasn't because I want crazy power.
Would putting in a bigger turbo with a longer spool time (rpm-wise) keep the car out of boost around town, and thus aid in gas mileage for basic city stuff? Of course, then you can always spin to 3500ish and get a wallop.
My goal is basically an Evo X daily driver that can be putputted around town when it needs to be, and get decent mileage at that, but as soon as I want to drive it hard, have it be the Evo everyone knows it is.

I find the problem with good gas millage when you have an evo is not what it could get when you put put around town.
The problem is that it is fun to spool up the turbo every time you leave a corner, intersection or driveway. You will just burn more gas with a bigger turbo, because it will be that much more fun to be a lead foot.
I tried once to optimize my gas millage. For that tank of fuel I got 21 MPG mostly city driving. My average for all the rest of my fill ups has been between 17 to 18 MPG, and it is worth every cent because the way I drove to get 21 MPG I might as well have a Honda civic DX and get 30 MPG.

Get the evo first.
The stock evo with a custom tune will give you power enough to win that "respect" on the streets that you are looking for.
Is amazing how fast I got use to the evo power.
Last Sunday I give a ride to a friend, he starts screaming like a little girl on 3rd gear. In 4rd he almost passes out and **** my seat.
I was driving normally, maybe yes, pulling hard, but nothing serious. You get use to the power quick.

Bigger turbo? yeap, why no? But save some money also for a new clutch
