Buying EvoX soon but looking for input...
Hello everyone. I am 27 yrs old, in the Air Force, deployed right now and planning to buy an EvoX when I get back but I have a few questions that hopefully people can help me out with. Since I am deployed I have limited resources for people to explain things to me or get information since I work 6 days at week 12 hours a day.
First off, im what you would call the opposite of car savy, so I might ask a couple of stupid questions but if you could bear with me I would appreciate it. I know that there is a lot of information in the stickies in this forum but to be honest I dont understand all of it just yet. I also see a lot of noob info for the older evo's and not a lot of noob info for the X's.
I also am not much into racing and probably will not run the car on a track so I realize there are a lot of mods that I do not need, but I do want to put a little bit of money into the car for cosmetic and quality reasons. This car will not be my primary car, my 3000gt will get me back and forth to work just fine. This will be my weekend and fun car basically. I do want this car to last so putting some money into key places on the car I am definetly planning to do.
I plan to put $10k down on a GSR SSS because I simply cannot affored to buy the MR and put money into wheels and other cosmetic things. Although I could possibly use the cash that I intend for mods as part of the downpayment to afford an MR.... Anyway, here are the questions...
1. I notice some of the X's have a lip on the front under the grill and some do not. I saw the question asked in another thread but could not find the answer. Why do some have this lip and others do not? Is this a stock or aftermarket item? Here are links to show the difference I am talking about. The first and second car in the Official WW Picture thread.

2. The things I have in mind that I want to mod are the following: I dont like the looks of the stock exhaust so I want to do something with it, what I'll do im not sure yet. I want to lower it, will decide with which springs or coilovers later. Wheels will be changed and will be decided later. Lastly, skirts. I want to keep as much of the go fast mods as close to stock for warranty reasons but there are still some things that might be easy mods that I could do and that would make sense. Such as, if i do get rid of the stock tail exhaust, what would be the next choke point performance wise in the X? TBE? Intercooler pipes? Mitsu has a intercooler pipe upgrade option for like $300, will that meet my needs or can I get something that is better for cheaper elsewhere without much worry of voiding the warranty?
I think I will start with those questions and see what kind of responses I get and go from there. Again, I realize that I probably said something that is rediculously stupid, but that is why I am asking. I have been reading these forums for a couple months and the community seems very friendly and helpful and I hope to be one of you, an Evo owner by 2010. Again, thanks for the help and forgive my ignorance, haha.

1. That lip is part of the AERO package that comes on a X from the factory. That package includes sideskirts, and the rear bumper.
2. I would say since you are not really looking to put on bolt ons, just get a straight up tune and some wheels...
Glad you are over there helping your country, I know I sure as hell couldn't do that, good luck.
