boost problem
boost problem
ok, i have an 06 mr all stock with the stock gauges. Went i get on it in 1st thru 3rd gear it reads 1.1 or 1.0 kg\cm2. When i get on it in 6th it reads 1.3 kg\cm2 on he boost gauge, which is 19 psi i believe. That should be stock boost right? Anyone know whts up? How do i tell if my clutch is going?
I believe it's setup to not go full boost in first, you are through first so fast anyway you wouldn't need it so that makes sense to me. But 19 psi is about right for these cars. That's what mine gets maxed out. Usually if the engagement point is up way off the floor that's an indication that the clutch disc is thin. I'd go into 3rd gear about 3K rpm and half throttle, on the gas then push the clutch pedal in quickly and let your foot slip off the pedal. Induce slipping and see if the rpm stays high or comes back down where it should be. If the pressure plate is strong enough it will force the rpm back down and not let the clutch slip on you. But when a disc gets thinner, the pressure plate can't apply as much pressure to hold it against the flywheel as well either.
