New Evo owner : 06 GG
New Evo owner : 06 GG
Hello all , I've just recently made the jump and traded in my '05 Lexus IS300 for this '06 GG Evo with 21k mi. It was a long and impatient wait for the right car to showup but now I finally own one . Impressions so far are that the car is quicker and has much better handling than the IS
, but I miss the luxury and fuel economy from the Lexus. I have no clue what mods are done to that car aside from the obvious : MBC , drop springs ( unknown brand ) , and boost gauge . Let me know what you guys thinks

Welcome to the forums. Your IS300 wasn't bad. I'm surprised that you mentioned that you miss the fuel economy of the IS. I don't own one so you'd probably be more knowledgable on it than me, but I'm guessing you're just enjoying the Evo a little too much to be getting comparable gas mileage for the time being. The IS300 owners I knew would report fuel economy not much different from what I've been getting. I've had two Evo IXs (still driving the second one, a IX SE with 23k miles), and both had a lifetime average of right around 22.5 mpg, and I've seen as high as 27.07 mpg in my current one.
If you want, take a look at your springs and at least see what color they are, as that could help narrow down which ones you have.

Thanks for the warm welcome , yea I know that this evo has been modded and from my knowledge the ECU has been tuned . Because it had a exhaust on it b4 the car was put up for sale on the lot along with other goodies , the 2step is set at 6k on this car I dont know if thats a sign of ecu modding . I guess since this Evo's ECU has probably been modded and the engine is stock , it might be why the car is getting HORRIBLE mileage in the city , but on the freeway its normal because I got 165mi. till I hit half tank . I just need to do more research on this car and learn more about it before I really start modding it . As for the springs they are light blue , I'm assuming Tokicos

Tokico does make blue shocks, but as far as springs, I'm not sure which ones those are off the top of my head. Definitely not GTWorx, Swifts, Tanabes, Teins...
Yeah, stock Evo IXs have a rev limiter at 5000 rpm if the vehicle is stationary and a gear is selected while the clutch is depressed.
