Might be a new EVO X 2010 owner
Sup, my lease is almost up on my g37s and im thinkin about picking up the evo x from socal mitsu. I've been goin through threads here and there looking for some info. Anything a new owner should know about the car like any known problems
or manufacturer defects. Anything I should buy right away for it?
Also I was talkin to Sam to buy the evo with performance parts on the lease i was thinkin of getting the ETS bigger turbo is that okay to jump the gun so soon on a brand new engine? or wsup any input would help thanks!

There's a couple issues with your post that I will address. First of all, you posted this question in the Evo I-IX forum vice the Evo X forum. Secondly, I didn't think you could modify a leased vehicle. Finally, leasing in my opinion is a waste of money unless you are changing vehicles about every two years. You pay all that money to a financial institution to not receive any kind of equity afterwards. I know this from personal experience from when I was younger and dumber.
I didn't even know they did leasing on Evos. I'm really surprised if they do cause Evos usually get beat the hell by owners.
Either way, definitely do not start modding that car until it's 1500-2000 miles on it. Break it in, do a lot of engine braking, keep it under 5k for the first 1k miles.
You really don't need a bigger turbo on these cars until you get into the 450+ whp range.
Also, after all the bad stuff I've been reading about Socal and my personal experience with them... I'd avoid them if you can.

I have a question. With my experience with Mitsu. Are all Mitsu dealerships complete crap? I feel like every salesman should diaf.... There all ******.. And if you find one guy thats cool. His manager is an idiot and screws you over.. I don't know how many times I got screwed over by someone at mitsu on getting an evo..
I sat in an Evo IX one time. Fell in love. Wanted it right there. Guy made some false bs up and boom. I didn't get one..
Found an VIII for dirt cheap. More excuses.. I can't win lol.

That's the nature of all dealerships. You find one cool person then the floor manager or desk guy "ties the salesman's hands". They are out to screw you over. The only time you can get away with it is when they are really hurting. The way I found out how to do it is make the deal over the phone. If they can't do it over the phone, screw em. Also only deal with OTD (out the door) prices. Otherwise they add in all the fees.
1) Never tell them you're trading anything in till the very very end
2) Tell them you are doing your own financing and will bring them a check because you only work with your bank
3) Tell them what the average sale price is on edmunds.com for that car
Once you get them over a barrel they lose a lot of their leverage. If you can take out the 3 of 4 elements in their money games (finance, down, trade-in, and final price) you screw them over.
It sucks you have to play these games, but honestly the easiest deal I've ever had was the one I just did with my X, and it was because I did it 100% over the phone. Just tell them you live far away and don't want to drive in to make a deal.

Absolutely. I was quoted a price, drove 250 miles to pick it up, they raised the price by $2k and low-balled my trade. F-ing ******. I enjoyed the survey call I got about my sales experience a few weeks later.
Make sure that you have a signed purchase agreement, otherwise the games will begin after your long drive. After you've driven that far they know that you don't want to leave without a car...

Well regardless of if I get a new evo or a used one. By looking at stuff financially I might be better off going used.. But either way I'm going through my military bank for the loan. I can't beat there rates on loans. So I'll be going in with a check no matter what.. I am not dealing with dealership financing. Thats I feel a great way they fck with you. I wanna work out the price and go heres the check.. Good bye I don't wanna know you anymore..

I had a very modded viii with LSD, etc. It was a great car. However I love my x mr much much more. Get more power out of them for less money. They handle better. You get a warranty. You get less rattles. I think the op is in the right track.

I didn't know that about all dealerships...just thought it was mine only. I'm in the process of filing a complaint here in Canada...been lied to, cheated out of money, and the after sales service is horrible. They sold me rust proofing which I didn't get...they said they don't rust proof at their dealership...then why did you sell it to me??? They sold me a paint pen for $31 that apparently comes free with the upgraded paint protection I purchased...on top of that the normal price for these pens even on Mitsu's website is $15. They installed my security system and the dual shock sensors only react if you bang the drivers side door...I could take a sledge hammer to the rest of the car and it wouldn't react...they put a scratch on my door during the install...that was the final straw for me yesterday! I'm changing dealerships and lodging a complaint against my own.
