Considering this evo? What mods are been done to it?! help

I wanted to wait to buy once I moved to MO next semester, but this looks like a good deal. Dealer does not know what mods have been done, which i'm sure there is but I'm not to good with cars.

Anyone know what mods might be done to this evo? Also, anyone notice anything that looks off? I'm really considering it... 55k, SSL package, sun roof, the usual. List price is 19 456. I've wanted a non-molested evo, so I'm also wondering what you guys think overal. I'm obviously going to go lower. Only bad thing is its VERY far from me

And whats the little black and blue box thing to the left under the steering colum? Turbo timer? Boost controler?

I've been wanting an evo for years now, but have been waiting to get settled in once I move to MO. It will be used as my daily, so i'm just wondering if any of the mods (if any) may loose MPG? (yah yah, its an evo, i get it). Thanks in advance.

If this is not suppose to be in this part of the forum, sorry, just lock or whatever.

I'm not sure what that little box is. Just make sure you ask the owner questions before you buy. The thing is I don't like that megan racing header, they are known to crack and especially with the vent louver missing, looks like a lot of water got onto it. Otherwise it's looks pretty unmolested. You won't know all the quirks until you test drive it. IMO I'd look a little closer then if you got problems you're out of luck.

If its modded like that..its most likely molested, but chances are its still in great condition. Most of these cars can take a daily beating and still be fine when its time to sell. Boost controllers and turbo timers are wired differently. Check under the hood and if you see a plastic tee dividing a boost vacuum line leading to the intake manifold, its most likely a boost controller, especially because there is no boost gauge in this car. Good lucky on the buy!

I'd suggest looking after you get to where you're going. It sounds like you need some time to look at more Evos in person or find a friend that knows what he's looking at. No point in making an expensive mistake by being impatient. These cars aren't that rare...if you're willing to drive a few hundred miles to pick one up then you should be able to find them anywhere.

This car is in TX, I'm in MI. I was considering trying to find a shop or mechanic to go out and take a look at it (obviously at my expense). First offer was for 19k out the door, and its been in their inventory for sometime now, so I assume I could get them down even further. I find it odd that they know none of the mods....

I am not an expert, but I think that maybe this car was involved in a front accident, the bumper is not the oem, neither the front intercooler and also the radiator.... I thing this is the only reason that the owner change all this parts, also the plastics bellow the engine and bumper are missed, this are the few things that I can saw in the pictures you post.

I hope my observations maybe help you in your decision.

Then it makes even less sense. I live in the Twin Cities and I bought my car in Milwaukee...you can find all kinds of Evos in Chicago.

I still think you'd be best off making friends with some Evo owners (maybe after you move) and have them help you find a car. They might know somebody trustworthy that is selling one or they can help you figure out what is what. I wish I had taken the time to learn more before I bought mine...

it doesn't have to be cause of a wreck, i'm switching my bumper and fmic and mine has never been wrecked. plus my under tray isn't on the car right now as well.

The car oviously has header, housing, fmic, radiator and that's all i can remember since i'm not looking at the photos right now

Well if they changed out the radiator wouldn't that be a decent clue it might have seen some track action? Its not like the stock radiator isn't up to the task of daily driving. I think those gauge overlays are pretty cool actually.
