Check out a credit union while you are at it. I don't know if you are researching NEW or USED loans...my USED car loan was 4.99% for 5 years with Spectrum Federal Credit Union in San Francisco, CA. Just made my last payment!

 

+1 for a good Credit Union. I actually pulled my Evo loan from one CU that I don't use to another this year and the car still qualified for the new car loan rates (4.25, I think?).

A good credit union, but no one is going to give you a loan without a solid credit score.

 

Low month payments is a function loan amount, interest and period financed. For instance. Unless you have really bad credit you should get atleast 10% interest and it really this isn't that great of rate.

For instance $20K Loan, 60 months

10% $424/Month
8% $405/Month
6% $386/Month


Banks aren't going to give you 0% on a used car, and their is floor of what the interest rate is going to be (banks do want to make money) Their are plenty of Amortization calculators online. Play with what you want to spend and plan accordingly.

Don't ever goto a dealer and tell them what you can afford for a month payment and tell them to make it work. They will play with number and just extend the loan out for longer periods of time. I know of a few people with 84 month loans.
