Question new to the forum. with a few ?'s

hello,

i just typed out this fat messege.. and as i was about to submit it. they asked me to log in again. well, anyways to summarize...

i recently called a dealership in CA. the salesmanager told me that the base MSRP "will be $39,999 and we will mark it up about 10k" bS? i think so
(and hope so)

?1: if i were to make a deposit at a dealership where i am #1, but when they get the car, it turns out to not be the one i hoped for.. then what? cause i dont think that the dealers get to choose that they do and do not get.. or do they? should i play it safe and make a FULLY REFUNDABLE deposit (my friend made a deposit at an acura dealership and it wasnt refundable) at 3 or 4 dealers where i would be in the 1st 10 makin a deposit?

?2: there is goin to be a GT-A (auto) version of the evo 8 right? could i take advantage of the demand of manuals and get an auto easier? but.. i take it that there will always be a demand for an auto. ..
do u guys think that it would be rare to get an auto? does anyone have an idea of the # of manuals and autos gonna be made? i would take a wild guess and say that it would be a 10:1 ratio. or whatever.
would the automatic have tip-tronic? or something of such?

thanks.

Nice. Kernel 32 error during my original reply. The short and sweet of it:

After lighting a buschel of horse manure in front of their door, never go back to that dealership. Due to the uncertain qualities of the upcoming US Evo I'd suggest a refundable deposit and not to trust anyone who admits they will sell over MSRP (you're likely to get outbid and screwed)

Check here for KK's list of dealerships agreeing at MSRP, and good luck. Anyone willing to charge $50 grand for an Evo should be selling bridges. I'd have flipped out on them.

hehe
thanks for the quick reply. yah, i was in a state of wtf when i heard him say "39,999"
another ?... would it be in any (semi-moral) way possible to get the dealer to sell below MSRP? if i were to get the salesperson/manager to sign "at or below MSRP".. chances are, MSRP huh?
even if i do get them to sign at MSRP, do u think that they would somehow trick you by saying that. "well... since u added these options.. then. we cannot sell it to you at MSRP" for those of you who have put deposits at MSRP, what options do u plan your evo to come with? or did you have an agreement like. BASE for MSRP?
thanks for the help.

There are ppl out there who have put down a non-refundable deposit so, I wouldn't expect any dealerships to refund $$. I think theres only going to be limited # of Evo's for the US so, don't be surprised if the dealerships charge way over what Mitsu claims about the Evo going for under $30K.

I wouldn't get an auto. No fun, IMHO.
