You would be surprised by how quick engine oil gets dirty. You can change the oil start the car and re drain the oil and the oil will look dirty. Its a normal thing.

But a good synthetic like AMSOIL, Mobil EP you should be able to squeeze the most out of it.

I usto run back in the day Mobil 1 on our cars and run it up to 6K thats all it would give us according to an oil analysis lab, now we run ATM 10W30 and or SSO 0W30 and we run the oil for a full year, matter fact the engine shows cleaner inside in all mechanical aspects, just saying.

Guys you have to remember and iam sure you all do. That when you go from stock horse power to modified pushing 300AWHP + you can throw the manufaturers rccomendation out the window and you need to start all over again and the way you can start all over again by doing oil analysis labs, these labs will tell you how is your oil holding up and it will reccomend a new drain interval, and everytime you do modify your car more or less you need to go back to the drawing board and re run an analysis oil sample to get a new baseline otherwise you might be trhowing money out the window by draining to soon or draning to late.

I would reccomend to stay away from blackstone labs and use OIL ANALYZERS, 1. They are not a certified lab 2. They do not give you a report with oxydation which is very important in turbocharged cars like the evo, why you need to know OXY ? well simply because you want to know if you oil is oxydating, 3. And they still use some old methods of reporting.
Not saying they are the worst and not to use them, but you just get a little more with OIL ANALYZERS.

How about Lucus engine oil stabilizers? the syn. one and the regular dino. ones...do they help in anyway with oxidation? I saw another posto n it in this forum, but i can't judge based on one persons opinion.

That is not for their 100% Synthetic ..

That sounds as misleading as saying all Mobil 1 products are Synthetic when only the Extended Performance is.

Lucas is just a thickener... If you run the right oil, there is no need for any additives.

If you think you need additives, you just need a better oil !

Running an oil with too high of a Viscosity will cause oil starvation, especially on start up, cause higher oil temps and a loss of HP and Fuel Mileage.

You will see a slight darkening on a vehicle like the EVO as there is about 1 qt of oil in the oil cooler and lines that you cannot get out. In most vehicles, the oil will stay clean for a while.

Thats true but i never stated 5 bucks for the full synthetic, you are assuming iam portraying 5 bucks for 100% SYN

I specifically said depends on the quality you want.

Like Luiquid gold said ^^^^

My 2 cents are get a good SYN oil and call it a day, with high TBN and some other goodies, dont go by thicker is better BECAUSE IS NOT, thicker depends on the type of motor and is it built or not ect..

hope it helped.

Lucas "claims" on its bottle that it "eliminates" dry starts, lowers oil temperatures, increases fuel mileage and reduces oil starvation when operating...

False advertising?

A good way to get all the old oil out of the engine is to disconnect your injectors, drain your oil, fill it up and then disconnect your return line from your turbo or oil cooler (which ever is the last line before your oil pan) and then crank the engine a few seconds at a time this will pump out the old oil and pre-oil your system. Do this till you get clean oil and then re-connect and check your oil level and fill to recomended level. Dont forget to reconnect your injectors...

I used to work at a dealership doing oil changes, they say don't go past 3k! but as we all know its just a gimmick to get your money one way or another.
