Hey Fella's. Just a quick note to introduce myself before I post new threads.
I've been a HUGE Evo fan for many, many years, but have never owned one. For various reasons I've passed on an Evo and got into other cars. Can't say I regret having the other cars (well, I had a VW Passat W8 that was/is the biggest piece of junk on the planet) but I do regret not having/ever had an Evo.
I like the STi just fine, but for many reasons the Evo always takes 1sy in my heart. I really liked the ix MR, but I haven't had a chance to drive the X GSR/MR yet. I really like the idea of the SST - and c'mon, 5 gears in a stick is 1 too few, IMO. The GSR should be 6 and the MR w/ SST should be 7.
Currently I'm in a '09 BMW 135i - very hard not to like the car. It drives great and has plenty of power for a DD. The looks of it are growing on me, but sometimes I still find it a bit fugly from some angles. And the quality, fit and finish are what you except for German engineering and craftsmanship. Fortunately for me I haven't had any issues as some have had. Now that I've got a foot of snow to deal w/ here in Rockies, I'm anxious to see how it do with snow tires - it's the 1st RWD car I've had in snow country.
I still dream about having an Evo, but there are a lot buts in that dream. I really, really want an AWD rally car to blast around the twisty mountain roads.
I'll be posting lots of questions here in the future. Let me also say that after reading this forum for a few months, I am very impressed with the overall atmosphere of this forum. I'm on a few other forums for various topics, and some of them I can't stand because of the overall attitude of arrogance and exclusivity of the board and it's members. I applaud you guys for being able to speak your minds and have disagreements & discussions without being hostile and flaming. Great place to be!

dreaming to have an evo is one thing while owning one is something that you really need to research more. while buying a new X GSR or X MR guarantees that you are getting a new car, buying a used evo VIII or IX can be a cause of frustration if you get a heavily abused, modded one. Having owned MB, lexus, honda, etc, when I bought my dream evo IX MR back in 2006, I thought I made a mistake because it had a very basic interior, no fancy radio, no sunroof, etc. But after owning it, it grew on me and never dreamed of buying any other car. try to drive the new X and maybe it will be to your liking.
