Took me 1 month to make my desicion.

Note: When you buy ur evo , dont buy the first one u see.. Take a look around and compare

got mine from ebay auction a dealer was doing in PA. so i flew up there did the paper work and drove back. Just plan on some minor issues with any used evo. you will have to do some prior TLC taking it from the owner and make sure you have at least 2k saved up when you first get it for the TLC.

Going all the way and daily driving are two VERY different things I hope you plan on going all the way once you have driven it for a few years or you will break stuff very fast. Also plan on having a good bit of cash on the side because its a high performance car and even with the best drivers stuff goes wrong.

I would suggest getting a beater like an old civic or corolla for daily driving if you are going "all the way" . In that case, you could just get one with a lunched engine for cheap and build away. Pointless in finding one with a well maintained engine if you are just going to rip it apart, of course, unless the block is toast, make sure at least the block is reusable.

It all depend on what you want to do with the car.

Drag - VIII
Road race IX

IMO I love my IX and I've used it for both.

The classifieds on this forum have a wide variety of everything from stock evos to 10second evos...check it out. Like previous people have said don't hop on the first one you like...look around, there are plenty out there.

35k? Where did you see that price? I bought mine brand new (50 miles) with leather, sound, etc and didn't pay that much. The only guess I can make is an extremely modified one where the person is trying to recoup their money. The problem is people like to customize their own stuff, so they know exactly what they are spending their money on.

Your best bet selling a modified car is to strip off the parts, sell them separately, try to restore the car to stock and get what you can out of it.

If I were to buy an evo 8/9 now, I would look for a cheap one with a trashed engine since you pretty much aren't going to find a mint condition one anymore unless you get lucky.
