K&N Drop in filter

Sorry for the newbish question but can anyone with this filter tell me how it actually goes in? I have had it in for a week with the wider end in first.

But some friends said that it is in wrong. Anyone with any input? With the wider side facing up like the picture it doesnt seem like a snug fit.

But isn't it not tightly fitted on all 4 sides. When I put it on the other side everything seems to be snug.

My AFE filter & perrin inlet make the fit so tight that I actually can't remove the filter without pulling the box off of the pins that hold it in place. Not sure how the 8's differ but I assemble my airbox in the air and then attach to the whole works to the car.
