Question Best year for an evo?

whats up guys im new to the evo scene and am looking to get my first one here pretty soon. i know i want a 03-06 but other than the appearance changes and other options like seats etc. is there a certain year that is more sought after than the others? does a certain year tend to make more power or have less failures than other years?

also are there any "weak" points with an evo?
-ive looked around and there doesnt seem to be many weaknesses other than a big need for an upgraded clutch which is common with most all cars.

any advice you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

2006. Although I have a 2005 evo 8, if something were to ever happen, I would purchase a 2006 IX.

Use the search button and search your questions, there are a ton of threads just like this analyzing the strengths/weaknesses of the different evo models.

Absolutely wrong. It depends on each individual driver and how they use their car. There are numerous 600+awhp MR's which have zero tranny issues. There are lesser hp ones with problems because of how they are used.
The thing is that there are a couple companies that do 5 speed tranny builds for people looking to abuse the car constantly.

Again, use the search button.

4th gear is not as strong in the 6 speed box. This is an issue for car that are road raced, long session and heat were contrubiting factors. 5 speed boxes are stronger.

for a car to buy just basic bolt ons get a IX (06)
for a car to build into a beast get an VIII (03-05)
