What Kind of Gas?

I was wondering what type of gas everybody uses. I just use the regular cheapo gas....Arco....Is there a reason I should switch. Or am I fine with this?

Thanks in Advance.

Mobil, Amoco, Sunoco.... but mainly MOBIL
I always get 93, but the Sunoco around me sells that 100 octane one for 4.59 a gallon, the day I put any of that, i'm gonna fill it up with it...

i'm gonna die aren't I.... lol

Go with 87

Go with the lower octane, like 87. Anything over that is too much for a stock 4 banger. It really depends on the mods you have. Higher octane in a stock 4 can and will leave deposits on the valves. The 4 can't burn the higher octane effectively. Also, if you live in the midwest, and I have only seen this here, stay away from the Holiday gas stations with the Blue Planet crap. It has a high ethanol content and even though Mitsu says the Lancer can handle it, you will have cold starting problems. I livedn in NY and Cali for a while and have never heard of this stuff till I moved here, so I think it is just a midwest thing. I reccomend Amocco 87 octane, I have tried them all and that works best for me.

Here in CA I put in 3.2 gallons of 76 100-octane unleaded racing fuel, and top it off with "premium" (91 octane) to achieve 93 octane. (My Evo is stock except for the antenna and trunk badge--neither of which use gas ).

I usually do this the Monday before an autocross event--that way I'll have about 1/3 of a tank left by the event.

Otherwise, I'll fill it with Shell gas--one of my buddies used to work at Ford Research and says that Shell's is generally the best. Also, I have a Shell/Citi Mastercard so I get 5% off

93 octane. Usually BP, sometimes Jersey Oil. Anyway, we already have a few threads like this so I'm moving this one to the newbie forum.

89 seems to work best for non and slightly modded lancers.

91 for reflashed ecu.

93 or better for turbo.

brand wise, i'm pretty fond of bp, not just for their gas, but their new stations just rock. ...mmm wild bean cafe...
