How And Why I'm Here Today....

Welll....My names Mike. I am soon to be the owner of a new 2010 White GSR. Full sight sound spoiler, and navi packages. That's really not whats important, it's why im here. I WAS the owner of a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V White with full bolt ons, and some engine mods. Visual mods as well...again, moot point. This was my first new car, driving it from mile 11-78k. I did almost every mod to it, spent countless time and money maintaining it and its been great to me. I loved that car, it was so much fun to drive, and it had a decent set on it fully bolted.

I'm here today because on this past thursday I at a stop light on the service road of a major highway on long island (L.I.E). I made a right after the light turned onto a road that is at a pretty steep downgrade. This road is a pretty large road, 2 lanes each side, which runs right next to a big hospital so theres constantly cars coming and going...a lot of the drivers being not 100% health wise. So im going no more than 30-35mph but again at a downgrade making it hard to stop. So I see an suv, a pathinder creeping into the middle of the road to make a left. He doesnt creep then stop, or creep then make a move and merge, he just creeps, creeps, creeps. Theres not enough road for me to avoid him at that point so I had to decide wheather ot not to try and avoid him rom the front or rear, I chose front. Either way I was toast. I plow right into the ront left wheel/axle of his car. air bags, windshield blown out. My nose hurt a little from the air bag, but somehow without a scratch. Not something i should have walked away from. I'm shell shocked, and I think there a fire, but it was the powder from the air bags. I open the door which didint really want to open, so I kicked it open, get out, look at the car and see the entire front is demolished. I knew it was totaled right there. SOMEHOW the engine and tranny didint sustain much damage at all the but the frame is f'ed. The driver of the other car was about 75 years old, hearing aid, slow walking. He walked out of his car no injuries either. His car also is repairable. He was obviously at fault and thats how the police report showed it. I am going to end up getting about $6,800 for my car, AND the car itself, or whats left. I am going to part it out, or more likely, just sell it as a whole. I know people that are interested in paying about 2k or it. So I am going to walk away with about 9k. I am putting down 3k on the car, and the rest to help make payments on this thing because I am loking at payments of around $450 compared to a free and clear car for 2 years. I'll probably use a bit or a couple bolt ons. Really just wanna get intake, exhaust, basic stuff.

To be honest, I've wanted this car since I became a car lover, and after spending hours and hours on the web looking at every car in my price range which is no higher than about 35k, theres nothing that I would consider a legitimate replacement to my baby. I KNOW this machine is night and day compared to my Spec-V, but it was my first car, and any car guy knows the feeling of attachment to a car.

Anyway. This car is going to be the next "women" in my life, much to my chagrin, but optimistic that I'll be so damn happy with the Evo that I'll forget the name Spec-V in a week.

I've always wanted a turbo car as well, originally wanting an 06' STi, but would never consider the new one, as its fugly. I'll probably be picking up the Evo in the next 10 days.

I'm new to this cars platform, engine, and real knowledge of turbo's and turboed engines. I could really use some help guiding me as to what mods I should, shouldn't get, and maybe answer some n00b questions, even though I am NOT a n00b. I was thinking the K&N Typhoon Intake, and decided not to change the BOV after hearing that its not needed unless your increasing turbo size, along with other reasons. I'm going to get an exhaust when I get some extra cash also, but after that I dont know. Either a short throw shifter or those better bushings that stiffens the throws. A few guages. Need some help and guidence regarding this. I dont want to really mod this car. Its really enough for me as is, I just wanna get her breathing a bit better with intake and exhaust.

I also just bought a 2002 Honda CBR600F4i MINT, so if anyone rides, lemme know, we can talk about bikes too.

I am looking forward to being an active member here and meet some new people in a different car "clique".
