I've had 2 wrx's (non sti) and 2 evos, an 8 and a X. My wife has an 04 wagon but I gotta say i love my evos. And on the X you can unlock a lot of power with just a tune. Good luck.

I myself currently own a 04 wrx. I looooove the car, but I've been recently thinking about an Evo VIII or IX. Ive driven a stock VIII and IX, and a nicely modded VIII. They're a ton of fun to drive, especially when its modded.

For you evo guys here that went through this transition (wrx to evo), did you regret it? Any thoughts would be awesome! Thanks!

I switched from a slightly modded 03' wrx to an evo 8...do it man...Im having so much fun with this evo...way easier to work on than a boxer motor the handling and suspension is better than the subies....only thing i miss is the boxer sound and always finding another subaru dude on the road to roll with.

have both, 02 wrx and evo IX. I love how easy it is to make power with the evo , but I love my wrx too.

9 vs 10? Get the 9 if you aren't all that technically minded. Because I'm getting my Mechanical Engineering degree the choice was painfully obvious. The chassis is SO much stronger and your chances of surviving an accident (its not always your fault) are so much higher than the 9 that it's scary.

Active yaw control is incredible, I've written several research papers on torque vectoring. Any lesser differential is very primitive... especially in a car that's front traction limited do the econo design of the awd system (hey its no gtr)

If you're buying a car in 2010 why would you want one with old technology? The 9 is very very old from an engineering standpoint.

Any person claiming a CT9A (IX, VIII etc) to be vastly superior to a CZ4A (X and up) or the other way round are just people trying to justify their purchase decisions. Both designs are extremely good in their own ways and it really always boils down to money. Drive both kinds and see what you like. Ultimately you are the one who needs to like it.

I have driven both generations of the Evo's and STIs, but have only ever owned the X. I can only tell you about the X in detail.

lol this thread is going to get closed or merged

best advice, do searching, and when it comes to buying a car.. buy one from this forum.. most of the guys are legit and take good care of their cars, plus you can search their post history to see what kind of problems they've had with it, if any.

They are both good cars, you will see more hate on the x here though so just be mindful of that. Kinda sad that your getting that reaction on a "EVO" forum.

Curious. Why do you think that is?

Simple, there are more CT9A owners on this forum than CZ4A and most CZ4A owners will not talk trash because they are dependent on the vast experience garned by the CT9A community working on the 4G63. Other than that and owners trying to justify their purchase decision, like I said earlier, there is no other "REAL" reason to bash on one or the other. You have to remember that with the CZ4A, Mitsu started appealing to a wider market and that's what made the car different.

There are many who moved on from a CT9A to a CZ4A and they are the ones who mostly seem to have a level head about both the cars. There are of-course the very knowledgeable car lovers who genuinely like both, but they are far and few in between.

I will stop talking before I get warned of hijacking the thread, its not the intention, just making sure the OP has the right info. FWIW, I will not write on this topic anymore.

Back on topic, to the OP, you really need to drive them to know what you like better. Once you make the decision, keep your reasons to yourself when you're on the forums. There will always be trolls trying to make you look dumb no matter which way you go. But you'll definitely have a smile from ear to ear no matter which evo you get, dare I say, even the CZ4A MR. They are all different, doesn't make them better or worse, just different.

Well i am really set on a 10. One, the car community in my area is filled with bad *** 8 and 9's, so i love to be different. Two, the creature comforts and updates in the x (IMO) are far superior to the 9. My gf hates both, but who gives a **** lol.

I am going to go look at the one in delray on wends (Previous Page). let me know if anyone has info on that car.
