I need to know if I have to install HKS Cams with HKS springs and retainers. Or if thats not the case, do i have to match the brands to get the best performance? And other question, on the Evo 9, could i install the cams without aftermarket springs and retainers. thanks

you wont need springs and retainers if you keep the stock rev limit.

HKS Cams don't have a big lift 10.2-10.8. You can run on stock springs.

People will say yes, no maybe so... It is cheap insurance to add better springs.

Honestly, if you're asking these questions, you shouldn't be doing the mods. Good luck.

I would say replace everything since you have the engine open some bit. Eventhough your car is fairly new you should replace or upgrade those particular parts of the motor at the same time. It dosen't make sense to do it one part at a time. I know your just doing cams but since you have the head open, upgrade your springs an retainers, you never know what direction you are going with the car. As far as brands it really dosen't matter just do your homework and don't buy crappy **** then you should be fine. Good Luck with the car and have fun!
