Question Wanted to thank all of you, Now need some Info.

I just wanted to thank all of you for all the of the advice you gave me on my last thread ( https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...lipse-gsx.html ) Soooooo like i said in the thread all of you convinced me to buy a Evo. Well i was going to wait untill Aug but I went ahead and bought me one !!! Its a 03 with 96K on her. I bought it from chicago motor cars. The dealer said everything is working great but he said the clutch is starting to show its age, said it would need to be replaced within the next 5 to 6 months. Now i called Mitsubishi deal and they said a new clutch was going to run me around $450 to $500 for a stock clutch ! He said and i quote " Parts for these cars are special" lmoa, Well if im going to pay that much i want somthing alil better then stock parts, but i guess thats what your going to pay when u buy parts from the dealer lol. So my question is for yall. What type of clutch do yall recomend for around 300hp-375hp that will be good to use as a daily driver? im open for all comments and appenions. Thanks for yalls time

Here are some pics, sorry they are from the dealer, Car should be here in a few days, had to have it shipped from chicago.

wow clean evo.

as for the clutch. you will see responses but most of them will be ACT vs EXEDY

i personally went with Exedy Stage One. so far so good! my only regret is not going for a more aggressive clutch like the stage two.

Looks real nice! If you're in need of a clutch change, you might as well upgrade to something other than OEM.

for those power levels and a dd, stick with a full face organic (aka stage one.) Stage two usually denotes a pucked clutch which isnt suited for dd and suffers when under stop-and-go conditions.

iam pretty much in the same shoes and looking for a clutch replacement very soon and here are my options:

1) ACT HDSS 6puck sprung, with streetlite or prolite flywheel. it costs around $600-800 depending on where u get it. handles great power, but the disadvantage, for some it has caused high rpm lock outs and the pressure plate feels alot heavier than stock.

2) Exedy HD Twindisk, costs around $1500-1800, no issues, and it feels like stock (pressure plate), but its costly.

gl!

ACT HDSS street disc and streetlite flywheel is what I'm on, and I love it. congrats on the new ride, and good luck with your plans.

Lmao i know right? I should have asked them if they could have threw in a free tank of gas with the deal lol. Thanks everyone for the complements on the car, and i will look into some of the clutches yall have mentioned. I might go with Exedy stage 1, seems to be in the ball park on price and performance + the have a good rep. So sounds like a winner to me

It's a single stage paint, where the base color and clear are shot at the same time. I did not know this about the Evo either, becasue I would have thought they would do it to the TB color also. One easy way to fidn out is to put rubbing compound on a towel and buff a small area by hand. IF the towel turns red, then it's definitely a single stage paint job.

ON the clutch, I run an Exedy twin, daily drive my car, and I love it. One of the best clutches on here if you search it up. Other than that, have someone do a once over an make sure all maintenace is up to date, and the fuel/timing map is what it needs to be. I'm saying this because it looks like the has a minor modifications, and you never know what else has been done,. Good Luck man!

When I was still on the stock turbo I put an Exedy twin SD in my car, I have since upgraded turbo's multiple times and am now running a Buschur GT3065 kit making over 400whp on Epic's Mustang dyno and the clutch is still holding strong. It's nice to not have to upgrade the clutch with every significant power increase. The SD has a very light pedal feel which I think is actually better than stock. It will hold over 500ft/lbs of tq and mine doesn't have that HD whine like a lot of the HD's have. smooth engagement and disengagement are also a plus. Sometimes you can find a really good deal on them as well. Let us know what you end up getting but that's my suggestion.
