Rim Question

I am looking to purchase new rims for my Evo VIII since I pretty much banged up my Enkei's over the years. I see on the internet that I can get 17 X 7, 17 X 8 etc., and I don't get what this means. I have brand new tires already and all I am looking to do is replace my rims. No mods or extras. What size rims should I get 17X7 or the 17X8. From searching this forum, it appears that the stock enkei's come with 17 X 7. If I got 17 X 8, would I need new, wider tires? Thanks for any info.

Luis

The same new tires you already have will fit fine on 17x8....do you have 235/45/17's?

the stock enkeis are 17x8. 38mm offset. i bought 17x9 wheels and a 35mm offset. i still run the stock size tires, because it was a package deal, but could go to 245, or 255. if you get 9's, i would get a wider tire. research if you will rub or not.

17 = diameter of wheel

x8 = width of wheel

OE 235/45-17 will fit 7.50 to 9.00" wheels, many also use a 245/40-17.

What size wheel and tire you choose depends on what you'll be doing with the car. A lot of the time you don't get to choose what width you want. Instead, you'll buy what's made for and fits the car properly.
