Evo 9 MR or Modified Evo 9 SE
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and I'm in search for an Evo. I found a couple I'm very interested in but can't decide which to choose. I would appreciate everyones input on this topic.
*Updated*
Well the dealer just got another GG Evo 9 SE in. Bone stock, clean, but has 70k miles on it for $22k. What do you guys think?
I'm trying to find one with less than 50k miles and I'm kinda leaning in the opposite direction on this one.
Also,
Found a couple more Evo 9 SE's.
GG Evo 9 SE 6k miles for $26k
GG Evo 9 SE 4k miles for $28k
Would like your input on these 3 cars plz. Thank you!

It is my personal opinion that anyone that has modified their car, has beaten it pretty good to get their fun out of it. No? Then why even modify the car? They spent a lot of cash making the car faster, who wouldn't drive the **** out of it?
That being said, there is far less risk when buying a stock car. I say get the stock car and drive it with the peace of mind that when you're ready to mod the car, you will know exactly what's been done to it and how it's been driven after you've modded it.
The up side to buying a modified car is that you will save a TON of money on parts and labor. Parts on modified cars do not increase their value.
Again, that is my opinion. At the end of the day, get the one that makes you the happiest.

Personally i would rather go with bone stock also because you know what you are gona put in the car instead of guessing what the hell is in it. And modded cars...well lets face it when you drop a mod inside you arnt exactly gona granny it.You want to see if you got your moneys worth =)!

depends if you know the history of each car...
When i am ready for antoher evo, I will be buying a modded one without a doubt.
A stock car beaten to death can be just as bad as a modded car that was driven hard.
For the fact that the SE has probably at least 4-6k worth of mods at least, I would buy the SE with the mods and drive it til it thumps as long as everything is in good condition. Get it checked out buy a GOOD shop and if the compression test is good and there are no leaks and the trans and t case don't make any noises then heck ya, id rock that SE.
If there was 1 sign of problems off the bat with the SE I would buy the stock car and start from square one

I voted the SE
But it is a toss up really there are pros and cons to both...
I like the 5sp in the SE , but I am not sure that the SE has the Bilstein shocks.
I bought my MR modified...granted it didnt have a turbo upgrade.....but just about everything else was.

That reminds me, no matter which car you decide on make sure you have it inspected by a competent mechanic and make sure they perform a compression AND a leakdown test on the motor.
If they don't know what either of those two tests are and how they differ, find yourself another shop.

The only thing about having it checked out guys is that I'm traveling about 650 miles to go and get it. Both cars are at the same dealer and that dealer has sold a few Evos.
