dohc ralliart head on a 03 lancer es

iv checked the forums a few times and this seems to be a new question i was thinking is it possible to switch my sohc head to a dohc head on the ralliart. if its possible how much would it cost and would it be worth it. i know there was supposed to be a dohc swap that there was possible from some other country but the head was rare and probably costs alot of money. and how much if any modifying would have to be done to the engine

The MIVEC has it's own ecu-style controller if I heard right. And just the head alone might not produce gains worth investing in since it's still limited to the one cam. You might be better off doing the whole engine swap.

You won't find anything until some of the 2nd gen Lancers (crazy sounding, huh?) start veering off the road. I would imagine it will be a real spendy option from the dealership.

If I am not mistaken MIVEK is Mitsubishi's name for variable valve timing(V V T). It is similiar to the Honda's i-vteck(SOHC). which is better than the VTECK(DOHC) because it has a continuous V V T which improves the torqe across the entire rev range. I am also pretty sure that it is applied to both the exhaust and intake side on the Mitsubishi MIVEK. I read something about it in a magazine, I will dig through the pile and see if I can find it.

Alright, just to clarify because some people don't have a clue: The L-RA's motor is the new 4G69 motor that will be shared with the Galant, Outlander and I bet the Eclipse. It's a SOHC head bearing MIVEC technology (info taken from an FTO site) , yes, it is similar to Honda's VTEC and Toyota's VVT, but not the newer i-VTEC and VVT-i from either manufacturer. The head WILL NOT FIT because the motor is completely different from the 4G64 in the lower trim/current Lancers. A direct motor swap is the only feasable option.
