noob engine balancing question

noob engine balancing question

just had to ask before putting everything together. let me start by saying my goal is 450-500 hp max. tq somewhat around that number . i just had an engine bored .020 over bought new pistons for it. my question is do i need to have this balanced and will i be ok with stock rods? if i do buy new rods and same question do i HAVE to have it balanced? once againg sorry for the noob question any input will help . oh and try not to bash me on this

Since you have it all apart. Get the assembly balanced for good measure.

I used a scale at our body shop that does grams.

I checked all ring sets, then pistons.(wiseco's were dead on.No deviation)

Also rods then, put them together and put those assemblies on a scale again.

Remember, you can take away grams, but not add to them.

thanks on the info . what do you think of eagle rods ive been reading everywhere about diff rods or should i go with other ones?

I got Eagles, rec by MAP up to 600WHP they said. I was looking intoManleys though and even Carillo, but those were way too much.

Again, I don't race the car, so I went with eagle h-beams.

Not only is it a good idea to balance your rotating assembly but it is recommended. Improper specs and balances will lead to premature bearing failure. I would weigh each piston and rod individually. Then when all the rods weigh the same and when all the pistons weigh the same, assemble the piston and rod combination and weight them again just to make sure each piston/rod combo weights exactly the same.

Edit:
Also, if you have access to a crank balancing machine, I would at least check to make sure the crank is balanced before getting ***** deep into anything.
