i use amsoil ($12 a quart) in the trans. and oem stuff ($50 a jug) in transfer case and rear end. u can get amsoil by the quart and u will need 3 quarts and oem stuff only comes in 4 liter jug. tc and rear end take less than a quart a piece so u will have plenty for next time

3 qts in the tranny and a little over a half qt in both the tc and rear diff so order two qts and you'll have some for next time left over.

As for the best that's always debatable.

I use Royal Purple in all three. 75W-90 in the trans and 75W-140 in the transfer and rear diff. About the same price as amsoil. Just my 0.02

I have the specs for my 6 sp IX and quantities are:
trans 2.3 quarts but you must have a 5 speed, 3 is probably right I'm not sure
TC is .63 qts
rear diff is .58 qts

Like another said, you'll have extra when you are done.
