I don't really think going with one company over another really matters. There is just a certain amount of timing the car will take and go lean enough to be safe. Maybe other will get couple more hp out of you car by pushing the timing and AFR to the max, but if you want to good results and a senservative/safe tune then just go with AMS dyno tune.

Sorry I just found my receipt. It was actually $235 for the retune

^ gotchya. It was $200 before.
Still not that bad of a deal for someone that doesn't want to learn how to tune themselves and wants a dyno chart to prove the new hp #'s

You could also use virtual dynoroom to guesstimate whpOriginally Posted by xmaciek82x

Would it be better to install a mbc and then have a custom dyno tune? I think that would add some hp's over the stock boost control.
That will be it for the mods then. I want to do it once and be done. I don't have a spare car and don't want to be swapping clutches, trannies, transfer cases, etc.

to be honest with you thought the same thing and in the same position, i got the bug and it never ends, and yes it is my DD and i just cant help it.. lol

i would just do a base tune, because within a month your going to be putting on more parts, thats just how it goes! lol once you start doing turbo upgrades and want to extract every hp out of it, then do a dyno tune, just my opinion

I would go with either road tune (Mellon) or a dyno tune. Especially if you don't plan to do anymore mods. Spend the money for the custom tune.Originally Posted by jy951

Mellon does a really good job, but i agree that it is a lot of work. Find a good shop and get a dyno tune.

Decided to add a mbc and go with a custom dyno tune. And no more mods for me, for now.

Do you already have a boost controller and/or a wideband? Ams used to be pretty strict about those 2 things. I am pretty sure you at least needed a Boost gauge.
You will be very happy with an AMS Tune. I have been supporting AMS for the last 7 years and their products and tuning and customer service are amazing.
