Entering the Market

Hey guys i just have a few questions. Im going to be in the market for an Evo 9 next year. I just wanna know...

1. Is there a specific year to look out for/avoid?

2. Is there something to look for on the vehicle besides the usuals for a problem down the road? eg. Oil seaping from a certain spot etc.

3. What kind of mileage would be too high to bother with?

thx!

Only 1 year for IX in the USDM - '06. No known issues aside from the owners. Mileage doesn't kill the cars; people do.

2006 was the only year for the 9 in the US. Any car with a clear carfax/history and good documentation of maintenance should be fine. Look out for cars that have been modified or one's that look like they have been returned to stock for resale. Don't be hasty when looking for one. Do your homework. Remember... cheaper isn't always better but don't waste your money on the most expensive one either. Good luck!

06 is the best year for evo 9. Best evo ever actually. Looks, wheels, interior, turbo, BOV, worth the extra money compared to the 8 IMO.

At 60k make sure the timing belt and water pump is done already with all fluids.

How do people tell if a used Evo is bone stock or simply reverted back to stock?

Nice Evo by the way. Congrats

Depends but usually there is some indication, mine had zip ties holding the stock intake on. Also had vacuum lines that had been removed when they pulled the MBC out leaving it boosting at 10psi. Along with numerous other issues. Oh then there was the AFR gauge that was still in the cluster.
