Looking for some help with a project
Hey,I'm starting a project his fall on my car. It's a Volvo S70 T5M, and yes i know not something usually in this forum I'd bet, but my planned project does involve Mitsubishi evolutions. Right now my car is a FWD 5cyl turbo, at about 240whp. I have koni adjustables and will soon have full coilovers. It was a automatic, but I converted it to a manual using volvo's 5-speed m56h transmission, which along with my current clutch is good to about 400hp. So anyway, my concern right now is not power, but handling. FWD is failing to meet my expectations, and I'm looking to convert it to AWD.
Looking at another Volvo (a s60 http://graphite.volvospeed.com/) that used a evolution 9 mr drivetrain and transmission, I'm going to try and use your drivetrain in my car. I'm looking to install an evo 8 with acd transfer case (i think evo 8's came with it?) along with the rear differential. My question to you guys, is how will the power distribution work. I don't mean about power from front to rear, but rather concerning the transmission. I plan on using a quaiffe lsd in the transmission, but wouldn't 50% of the power be sent to the front left wheel and then the other %50 to the other three wheels? Does the evolution's transmissions use some type of 25% - 75% lsd in their transmission?
Well thanks for the help in advance. My friend with a evo 9 told me for every 5 people on here, two will laugh, two will tell me to buy an evo, and one will try to help.

I found a evo mr transmission with 6400 miles for $500 but needs a new 2nd gear and syncro, I know for volvos, if you need a new gear, you have to buy a new transmission (not even new). How hard is it to replace a gear and syncro with these transmissions?
My '03 Evo 8 does not have acd and I think acd was not available until '05.
Anyway, the Evo drivetrain has three differentials, the center differential dividing the drive between front and back. The other two differentials are for the front and rear drive axles. Acd locks the center differential when driving straight and unlocks when turning. Exactly when this locking and unlocking occurs is controlled by computer.
So, to make what you want work you need a center differential. Gool luck.
