Hey Guys, currently i own a 2009 Subaru WRX Hatchback Premium model. Currently it is sold to a gentlemen in Maryland, we just need to do the exchange here in the next few days. This is my second WRX, i had a 2004 with an Deadbolt 18g turbo setup with supporting modifications. I've learned a dcent about turbo cars from owning 2 wrxs, yet after joining this forum and browsing the Newb Stickys i have realized the Evo is a whole new ball game.
Current i have my eye on a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, rocking 47,000 miles. *With*only*1*previous*owner*and*a*few*modifictions . I've done research but wanted the communities opinion on these modifications. I had a compression test completed and everything was between 168 and 173, which is good. The clutch is strong and the tranny seem like i am driving my new wrx, seems not abused at all. Are the mods below decent or garbage? Does it seem they are missing an accompanying modifications? With this setup should it be tuned, i dont know if it is?*
JGT500*Espilir*Exhaust
Megan*Downpipe
Megan*02*Housing
Blox*front*Motor*Mount
B&M*Short*Shifter
White*Line*front*Sway*Bar*Endlinks
Defi*Boost*Gauge
HKS*Type 0*Turbo*Timer
Tomei*Shift*Knob.*
I didnt notice a manual boost controller so i guess its safe to say the boost had not been increased by hand. I assume it could of been adjusted during a tune though. I spoke with Chad at CBRD speed factory which is close by. he said it is a decent build. Most likly to be safe id bring it to him to retune if purchased. I am looking for anyones input on this car, before putting a deposit down. The car is in great condition so give me your feedback. Also fyi thr carfax looks great.
I am sorry for spelling errors i am on my iphone

Sounds like a good buy...I say go for it if the price is right

All those mods are quality and common mods except for that jgt espilir exhaust...that is an uncommon exhaust that I've only seen on a couple Evos in the last couple years but as long as it's made out of mandrel bent stainless steel it should be fine

Thanks for the quality information. With a wrx you need tunes with almost everything you modify, do you think this setup should have a tune?Originally Posted by speedypollard

You'll be fine without a tune but no matter what your mods are you will always benefit from a tune...a tune should be done when a mod is done that alters boost/afr/timing...sometimes you can get away without a tune but some mods do require tuning adjustments

You would prolly gain 30ish whp/wtq with a tune for the mods you have now...add a mbc, walbro 255, intake, bigger fmic, and hardpipes...turn the boost up to 25-26psi and get tuned you should be 340-370whp/wtq depending on how aggressive the tune is and 93 octane is used on a dynojet
Does anyone have a stock picture of a 2005 Evo Engine Bay, the previous owner replaced the airbox with a Cone. Leaving the Ram Air Inlet, is that normal? The Cone looks like it has seen better days. Here is a picture ...
