Didn't all 03's have HID headlights?

I tried searching for this, but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I thought all 03 Evolutions came standard with HID's, but then I noticed a few things on mine. I have HID low beams, but non-HID high beams... just standard yellow lights. When I pull the lever for high beams the low beam HID's never go out. Is this normal or should the lows turn off? The small box shaped units under the hood say something to the effect of "HID conversion kit." Am I crazy or this some aftermarket HID kit?

They have single xenon HID's factory. RS's they were options... everything else remained standard I believe.

Why would the high beams cut out the low beams???

It will knock your fogs off if you have them on, but your low beams will remain on with your brights.

Well, every other car I've driven in my life did that, so I guess I thought it was a reasonable assumption that was normal. This is the first car I've ever had that the lows and highs can be on at the same time.

Thanks guys, guess I can sleep at night now.

1. All 2003 Evos have HIDs.

2. The RS does not have HIDs but they are 2004 and up. There are no 2003 RS's.

3. My 2005 does not cut out the HID low beams when I flash or turn on my highs. The highs add to the HID lows. Maybe on a non HID equipped Evo (2004 RS, or 2005+ non SSL) they will cut out the lows, but I don't know. They do cut out my fogs though.
