New, looking to buy

Hi there evo forum. I'm Looking to get my hands on an 03 to 05 MR, and im trying to do the impossible by finding one thats at least close to stock, and spending under 20k.

I in the Flint michigan area, but im open to travel to get one. Id like to have it as an everyday driver. Ill prolly end up doing the same with it as I did my other car as far as mods go. I just did some fuel updrades, exhast upgrades, and then tune it myself. Im not looking to go super fast or do anything to crazy, but do a bit better than stock while still being reliable. The vehical I did that to was an 93 Typhoon, and its been one of best performing things ive ever delt with. Reliable, but still can get down when i need it to.

Ive been doing a bit of research, and these cars seem to be pretty reliable, only issues i hear about are the 6 speeds are kinda weak compaired to the 5 speeds, and 60k seems to be the zone where you need to replace a ton of stuff. They seem kinda tempremental to mods without being tuned, but thats normal.

Thats good but trying to find a stock evo is rare nowadays. You should be able to find an MR thats modded but not to modded. It should be under 20k though more like 15 to 16 tops. The basemodels go for like 10k now as we speak.

Good luck in your search.

As far as mods go.......

I only started to mod at about 160K.... I started with an exhaust and that's the beginning....

really, even for an 05? Getting my hands on one thats lightly modded would be fine, I just dont want..surprises in the wiring and what not i guess would be my major concern. But yea, I'm keepin my ear to the ground hoping to find one soon, if anyone has any leads I'd love to hear about them.

I was also trying to look into mods and what you can get out of them. I know its probably not at all the same ( i know the obvious differences of OBD I vs II) But I know with my typhoon the best thing to do was to go in and start with retuning the PCM (ECU) I just put an exhast on it, and a walbro pump and started tuning it with amazing results. I was wondering if I could do about the same with one of these, get it running really well, ad maybe up the boost pressure with a tune and make sure detonation is controlled. Nothing to crazy, but just a bit better than stock, and I love tuning, so I dont mind the time it takes

I was also wondering how sensitive these cars are, I know that sometimes you put an exhaust on a turbo engine and all of a sudden your getting a check engine light because the turbo can breather easyor and is now overboosting because the computer cant control it anymore. I'm looking into stuff like that.
