Nice to meet all of you, first time user here. Love the activity to say the least.
Onto my questions;

I am looking into buy and EVO 8 or 9.
I need to know what to look for to have a reliable car?
I will build the motor later for more power as well, so companies with good short blocks etc. would be helpful.

If there are any issues that are known with the car I would like to know that as well before I go on the hunt for an EVO. And 2 more things; VIII or IX? And I was also thinking of buying a auctioned one, and just from there, build the motor?

Clearly, you know nothing about this platform and that's fine. We all have to start somewhere. Take every subject of interest that you listed, drop it into Search and start reading. When you need a better explanation, start a thread on this forum. Until then, there's plenty to keep you occupied. Forum stickies are a good place to begin. Best of luck.

 

I do know the platform, but I am just not too knowledgeable with the separate models.

I would go for a base RS and build it to be honest.
But I am trying to see if I can find an EVO with a lot of miles that can just have the motor rebuilt and not have other things break if that makes sense.
