Okay I recently brought a salvaged title evo. I am at a turning point here since im located in NYC. Okay now in a few weeks i have to get the car inspected by the state. The big thing is NY you have to go to the dealer and bring reciepts if the airbag/airbags are popped.

Now I dont have 2,000 to buy the airbag column becuase they dont sell these seperately. Now is there a way or a different state I can get this car inspected to where they dont go hard for airbag as long a I have the reciepts we got them from. My airbags are used so what do I do and where do I go???

 

I'm pretty sure you have to stay in your own state since thats what it says on your license plates.

As for what you should do, how does inspection work in your state? OBDII? If there is a code for deployed airbags and that is what you are trying to avoid them seeing, couldn't you just clear the code?

 

No bro its NY state salvage inspection they really dont care about obd check engine light codes as long as its minor. As far as airbags how can I bypass them ? Becasue they want me to get them straight from the dealer.

 

I guess I'm just confused. How are they going to check to make sure you got airbags? Are they just going to ask you?

 

Okay im sorry to confuse you the airbags were popped when I got the car. They are asking when I get the airbags replaced the must come off of another salvaged car. Out here in NewYork you cannot get airbags from the junkyard anymore. Back then people used to steal the cars and take the air-bags first off the bat. Now the laws say you cant buy from them anymore so its illegal to get them you either have to get them from another salvaged vehicle or dealership$$$$$$$.

Since the laws have changed they must come off of another salvaged car or I have to get them from the dealer brand new. I cannot get them from a junkyard or off from another evo thats what I means to say. How do I go about this
