a few questions before buying.
a few questions before buying.
Hello all!
this past weekend my pride and joy(my 05 cobalt) was tagged by a deer. i was out for a late season fall color tour up into the thumb of Michigan and back. well, she never made the return trip
here is what happened

while i hope like hell its fixable, OE parts for it are not cheap and the cars just not worth that much. the initial quote from the body shop is enough to total the car out.
so id like to replace it with Evo. an 06+ IX in SE trim to be specific. hopefully in Graphite Gray.
my first few questions are simple....i think.
the SE comes with the 5spd, and thas perfect for the plans i have. but durability wise how tough are they? handle good power? any known shift issues like there are in my DSM's?
and issues with the Diff's? at 500-600whp?
also, are there any known issues to look for when buying?
thanks guys!

The Evo GSR transmission and drivetrain is very tough. Find one that's been well cared for, change the fluids regularly (I try to do mine annually or every 15-20k miles), and it'll hold up just fine for you.
With proper fluid, bushings, short-shifter, and knob, you can make the 5-speed shift very nicely. Not S2k-nice, but as close as you're going to find in a Mitsu.
