A new guy

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. little bit about my self, im in the us army, statoined in korea right now, been around cars and **** since 14, motorcycles cars jeeps etc.

The wifey LOVES the new evo xs, but im tryin to talk her into a 8 or a 9 being i can do alot more toa 8-9 with alot less cash, and i love the 4G motors.

So i really just wanted to get the low down on the 8s and 9s, Im more about puttin cash where it counts and thats under the hood, wheels, carbon, effects, not so much. Wanted to see what i could get away with on a stock block with maybe just some arp studs. Whats the MUST mods.

PLan is, 8 or 9 evo, FP green bolt on, with a 255 some 1000-1200 injectors Do u guys run return FPRs? and wanna run E85 should have no issues with 400-450? Was also wondering what u guys tune with? Neo i guess would not be a problem being E85 loves timing. Not sure if u guys have anything like hondata or Kpro like honda has?

And any other MUST mod. Soild motor mounts? ARP i guess are a must for saftey, Clutch maybe down the road. Any issues with diffs or trans/case just anything a new guy should know about.

Thanks again, and ill be surfing the Buy and sell for a 8 or 9, I have about 10 months before im back in the states, so it will be a little bit

P.S is it SMART to go towards a 8-9 Over the Xs MORE power for your money is what im lookin at?

the 4g has been around for quite some time... so in terms of after market support in comparison to the 4B... then yes... you will have more options... but the better part is having ppl with more years of experience with these motors... ARP headstuds are always a good buy for that extra sense of reliability... if u plan on upgrading to a fp green and running e85... then a clutch will no longer be "down the road"... evo clutches are not made to withstand that much power over stock... and has even less life when used to launch the car... it's always good to run 1200cc inj with ethanol is best... and lol... this is not a honda... so hondata or kpro will not be needed like it would have in a civic/rsx... the factory evo ecu has already proven itself to be good for tunes in excess of 600+hp... after (or before) that... its upto u to go with a more precise ecu tuning unit such as AEM EMS systems...

i say get a 9... (or 8 w/9 turbo)... simple exhaust/intake/cams/clutch on a e85 tune will have u over 400hp... no need to waste money on a fpgreen for that... thats my .02
